The Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) has chosen WILDCOAST to implement the "Building Community Solutions for Reducing Land-based Sources of Litter in the Tijuana River Watershed project".

This project will identify local solutions that effectively prevent and reduce land-based litter from entering the Tijuana River watershed. Specifically, WILDCOAST alongside the UN Environment and Tijuana-based Kilometro Uno, will describe the status of marine litter in the area, build local citizen monitoring capacity, identify and implement feasible solutions to address local challenges, and communicate results and recommendations to stakeholders and decision makers in two areas of the watershed: South San Diego County, California, United States, and Tijuana/Rosarito, Baja California, Mexico. WILDCOAST is honored to partner with the CEC to reduce marine debris in the San Diego-Tijuana border region.
